In the beginning we really didn’t like each other
But at some point in time or another
I put that aside and saw you for you
Then there were so much more things that we could do
Week by week and day by day
We learned more of each other in every way
We talked on the Internet and did this and that
And every youth function we were at
Life seemed to get better and more fun
And I started seeing less storms and more sun
Then before we knew it a year or so had gone by
And our friendship was growing high to the sky
Most of my friends have never stayed true
However this is not true of you
Recently, we have grown closer
I just wish it were like this sooner
You know almost everything about me
And all that I ever wish and hope to be
You are always there to listen and care
When it seems like the things on my mind I cannot bare
I hope you know I am there for you
In everything that you do or don’t do
For all the times I never said what I should
I thank you for all those times you understood
If you ever need anything, know that I’m always here
And always have my shoulder if you ever need to shed a tear
I don’t know if I’ll ever give this to you
This is just a way of what I do
Writing is away to express your feelings, emotion, and thoughts
And another way to get through life when your stomach is full of knots
But other than writing there is a friend like you
And I hope I am that friend too
The one that you express yourself with
Because the word “friends” is more than just a myth
The friendship is actually real
And not something for a short while you feel
Friendship is a two way street
Even when you want to give up in the heat
You keep on going whether hot or cold, good or bad
Defiantly when you’re happy, and even when you’re sad
All those talks until 3 AM
Is one of those ways of expressing who I really am
So as this comes to an end
Just know that my thanks to you I send
I guess what they say is true
Who would have ever knew
That every now and then
You find the meaning of a true friend
