Missing you

by Brian   Nov 14, 2006

A tree at my back
the grass at my feet
a weather worn rock as my seat
looking up at the clouds
as they slowly pass by
trying hard not to drift into sleep

A warm summers day
a gentle breeze slowly blows
up the hill through the long reedy grass
I sit alone in the shade
collecting my thoughts
away from the torments of life

My imagination plays tricks
making shapes in the clouds
as they billow and dance through the sky
then once again as they do
my thoughts turn to you
and to times when life was so full

Then depression sets in
and try as I might
I can't shake this darkness from my head
so I give into sleep
where I hope to find peace
to leave these memories behind

But as my eyes finally close
I feel a gentle touch and embrace
and once again I see your face
