Silent Planet

by InvisibleManiac   Nov 19, 2006

There is a star, just an ordinary star
But it's watched constantly with ever increasing vigilance
As it races through the vast expanse

For 6 billion years it does travel
While the watchers do naught but marvel

Alas its journey must come to an end

The star begins to grow and turn red
Crying to heaven as it shrinks back
It gives out one last spark before it lies dead

The last surviving watcher closes his eyes
He knows it will never come back
And the third planet grows cold and silent
as it fades into the inky black
