Paintbrush

She kept her paintbrush with her,
where she may go,
in case she needed to cover up,
so the real her wouldn't show.
she was afraid to show her true self to me,
afraid of what id do.
afraid i might say mean things,
like the others had to do.
i know she wants to remove all the coats of paint ,
just so we can see.
but first she has to understand i will accept her as i see.
now her coats are all stripped off,
she feels naked, bare, and cold.
she said, if you still love me with all that you see,
you're my friend pure as gold.
she stated she needed to keep her paintbrush with her and hold it in her hand.
she wanted to keep it handy,
case somebody doesn't understand.
i told her I'd always love her,
no matter what i do, but you dint need the paintbrush
because we all miss the real you.
she told me she knows i love her but thats something she just cant do.
she said she needed to keep the paintbrush
until she loves her too..
