23rd

by Katlynn   Nov 26, 2006

The 23rd was thanksgiving.
family comes over and we eat.
everyone begins to have a seat.
corn is yellow as the sun.
children are having fun.

the cranberry sausage is ruby red.
the color of flush lips on uncle Ted.
everyone sits around and talk.
while the children are watching TV.
Elmo is on joining in on the fun.

it's time for pies.
the taste of them you can just die.
apple, pumpkin, pecan, && blueberry.
Oops, can't forget cherry.
everyone picks out there favorite.
there so well done.

after the pies we sit around.
hardly making any sound.
we're tired and full.
hours pass the family leaves.

mom and I the only ones who's left.
mom goes to bed around seven.
I can't sleep then finally after eleven.
but before that.
I was listening to the radio.

they asked what you were thankful for.
I started to say life over and over.
I started to cry myself to sleep.
because I know I'm thankful for my life.

*family, friends, everyone

I really like this.. I think that you did an amazing job on describing Thanksgiving in this. And I liked the way that you put a lot of stuff in it that made it personal. I also really liked the way that you ended it. It was kind of sad, but a very good way to end this poem. Great job on this! 5/5
