For Gerard.

by Katie Louise   Dec 4, 2006

I came to you as a frozen child
Like only an isolated adult would.
Your fragile porcelain heart
And its insignificant hairline fractures,
They surprise me...

Writing about past encounters
Brings about its own dangerous
Nostalgias on
The blank pages inside a watery moon...

Your soft hands
Making my heart break, within an arch of your
Wrist rocking me slowly to reality,
From side to side, now I
Capture your dangerous smile and its enough to
Make my emotions weep in this silence

All the things youll never
Recreate in these half-lighted
Moments, lose out of
Hope, desire, love deeply embedded
A vision of supreme beauty
to which all is unparalleled

So brave and so beautiful
An ironic twist of gratuitous fate
An angel in black pouring over youthful
lacerations that I made for you

Do you remember?
The time that I drew my broken heart on your back
just for you, in my own crimson blood?
These are just the contributions to the painful geographies of hurt
Where only the singer remains
