Single Tear

A single tear falls down her cheek
He walks away waiting for war
She holds her son close as he says goodbye to daddy
She reaches for her lover afraid to let go
He kisses her softly
Tells her he loves her
And then he lets go
Afraid for her son she holds him closer
Knowing well where he has to go
Her son is a warrior, just like his father
She reaches out again knowing this time he may not return
Looking into his eyes she sees her husband
He hugs his mother and tells her he loves her
Picks up his gear
Promises to be home
Then marches away
