Fight of Fights

by hardrock   Dec 23, 2006

The day had come
And it didn’t take long,
For them to realize
What had gone wrong.

Always suspected,
Never known,
The feelings they harbored
Were not alone.

Friends their whole lives,
Always wanting more,
Never took the chance,
Pretending to ignore.

Now it’s almost over,
The chance is almost gone,
Regrets are all that will be left,
And they will never be gone.

With each step they fight,
Wanting to look back,
Just to get a glimpse
Of their beautiful past.

Finally they give in,
Both look back,
And their minds are filled
With past regrets.

Memories that will always be there,
Never completely submerged.
Both wanting to talk,
Fighting back the urge.

They know it’s their last chance,
Will they follow their hearts?
Or stay silent,
And fight the fight of fights?

Silences are deadly,
Regrets are worse,
Uncertainty will haunt,
Yet rejection the most cursed.
