Compass

by dandy   Dec 27, 2006

If I possessed a compass
to help me on life's path,
I'd figure out just where to go
and never would look back.

If it pointed North I'd follow
without a second thought.
This compass would not lead me astray,
I'd never feel distraught.

If it pointed South I'd go
and that way it would be.
That would be the road to take,
just like the compass told me.

And if it pointed West
I would pack my bags and leave.
That would be the way for me,
that is what I'd believe.

If it pointed East
I wouldn't question it all.
I'd trust that I would always be safe
when my compass made the call.

And if it doubled back one day
and pointed straight at you
I'd got running right into your arms
and know that love is true.

Sadly I don't know what will be,
for I do not own such a tool.
Until my day of destiny
I'm just a single lovely fool.
