I will always love you

by Travis   Dec 28, 2006

Like a butterfly flying gracefully in the sky
I chase you everywhere asking myself why

Is it your beauty that make me pursue
For all I ever wanted was to hold you

What is this spell you have over me
I lie awake at night thinking of how we would be

You have the sweetest kids one would ever know
I would love to be with you and watch them grow

I have kissed your sweet lips and tasted your soul
Maybe it was this that made me lose control

So in my dreams you will be safe and sound
And when this world lets you down

I will be there to wipe away the tears
And help you face all of your fears

I will be by your side helping you grow strong
And I will be there because this is where I belong

So if I never know what its like to hold you
As sad as I may be I will always love you

The poem started off beautifully, but then I started noticing some little things. In the 6th verse you bleed the second part of the verse into the 7th and it really makes the 6th meaningless almost. In the 4th verse, you may want to consider using the past tense for the first line so the reader knows he's imagining something now and dosen't have to go back and re read to make sure. Love the illustration with the butterfly, women will too.
