Last Day

by Kate   Dec 28, 2006

Who will choose when last words are spoken
When all is gone and hearts are broken
Whimsical melodies danced in her head
She never knew that she was dead.

Lost in doubt, fear, and lonliness
With brilliant rays of color and flashing beams of sound
She never knew what she had lost
Until it was found.

Love is a fragile butterfly,
Hold her tight and she will die,
Hold her loose and she will fly
Love is what makes her stay

Long were the days when she was lonely
Long were the hours as she remembered
Times when joy so sweetly had flew away
From the palm of her hand.

Lamenting birds on a weeping willow
She sat alone with her heart held tight
She had lost her final battle
She had lost her final fight

When the end of days grew near
She stood on a cliff for him to hear
As they watched the ocean turn red
It was just her and her dearest friend

As the ground began to shake
She took him hand in final farewell
"This I never in life would tell
You are the one I loved, oh so very well"

As the sky
Began to darken
The lady's words
He had to hearken

"If love me you did, why tell now"
For death is on you lily-white brow
Love is an angel tired and broken
Love is a word no one has spoken

And now that its lost with her final goodbye
Tis me whose next to die
And her eyes closed sweetly in death
He kissed her farewell in her final rest

But cold were the lips
That once sang so sweetly
Of love, joy
And the one she adored

Vaguely had he seen her love
When all her joy was in his touch
The last song sang was a lament
For her dear, blind love

She watched as he walked away
From her corpse which silently lay
Next to the cliffside, by the sea
Where she had once sang so sweetly

He walked away down to the beach
She already felt so out of reach
He fell down crying to his knees
Crying "Take me, take me with you please!"

As the words left his lips
The ocean rose and swept him to sea.
He fell to the bottom of the darkened waves.
As the were united once more.

They danced within the clouds,
The danced upon the wind.
They held each other
Until dawn near came.

As they stood
On the cliff by the tide,
They both knew
That they had died.

Blind in life and seeing in death,
A love unknown frome another kept.
With the last words they each spoke,
Of a love, of a lust, of a soul made promise...
