The Princess Bride (as you wish)

by emmerz   Dec 31, 2006

A farm boy and a maiden, fair
One ignored, the other cared
Their only meeting was when she cried
"As you wish" was his reply

As if a switch turned one day in the field
The girl's hidden feeling was promptly revealed
Years went by, so close they grew
Until separated by the act of a fool

As luck would have it, the boy had to go
Off to war; his greatest foe
Rumor got back to the worrisome girl
Her man had died; the light of her world

She was sent off to marry another
Until she was saved by her estranged lover
So happy was she, her hope was found
In her tear-stained dress, she danced around

All would be perfect if troubles would pass
But there was a prince of higher class
He wanted the beautiful girl as his own
So he stole her to sit beside his throne

The girl cried out "someone save me from this!"
In the distance she faintly heard "As...you...wish!"
Her true prince came to save her once more
But he did not know just what was in store

His body was tortured inside and out
And his soul had started to crumble and doubt
As his hope was running dry
He finally escaped with his head held high

The boy and the girl were reunited
No one could believe they were ever divided
Many days later she asked for some bread
"As you wish" was all he said

She looked at him, frowning ever so slightly
Saying "why don't you ever tell me you love me?"
"I do," he said, and gave her a kiss
"I do, when I say 'As You Wish'"
