That lonely night in the sand

It was the big night of rythum
the hours to party hard and drink
but you struggled to even smile
as you sat by yourself to think

you looked deep into my eyes
told me the words i longed to hear
several times you repeated them
as you held me into the new year

you wanted to kiss me so bad
and i thought about it too
but you already had your chance
and that you really blew

i stared into your longing eyes
as you softly grabbed my hand
you slowly kissed my cheek
i just wish you'd understand

you could have had me for ages
but you choose to ignore
i wasn't good enough for you
but you never really knew for sure

your my best friend, always will be
but someone else has my heart
he might not treat me well
but i cant find it in me to depart

one day we'll be together i know
because we are meant to be
lets just wait for the right time
when it can just be you and me

so as 2007 commenced before us
we walked hand in hand
but nothing would become of us
