Heart Beat

by ari   Jan 2, 2007

Laying in the dark,
hearing my heart beat
beneath the music.

Kissing you,
it felt so good,
like the flutterings in my chest
would be permanent
tenants there.

Laying in the dark,
hearing my heart beat
beneath the music.

Thinking about you,
you never looked so good.
My mind
ironed out the flaws,
like you were my
fantasy.

Laying in the dark,
hearing my heart beat
beneath the music.

Seeing you,
it broke
everything.
I was never good with
relationships.
I can't blame you
for the shards that
punctuate the emptiness
in my chest.

Laying in the dark,
hearing my heart beat.
