The Trees (Extended Metaphor)

by Mousie   Jan 4, 2007

There are trees in this world
The strong-willed and weathered,
The old and the wise
The young and the clever.

Look at those rings
That tell of their age,
The stripping of bark
Is the turn of a page.

The story of man
Is found in these trees,
The wise and the weathered
Blow strong in the breeze.

hope you guys get this. let me know if you don't! r/r/c

I liked this poem so much I had to come back and comment again. Bravo .I really like poems about nature and this one is no exception. I find that the Nature section of Poems and Quotes is where some of the best poems are found. I like writing Love poems and find that I incorporate many nature themes into them. There are a lot of poems in the Love section but there are only a few that really shine where in the nature section I find the opposite – most of them are very good. I enjoyed your poem and hope to read more from you in the future. If you like trees you can read a poem I wrote called – The memory of my shadow.

I love this one!! So much emotion and heart. Nice imagery and depth. The meaning was as clear as a spring day. Nice work. 4.6/5

Awww..well written! I love how it all came together! The second stanza was my favourite. Hmm..perhaps you should add more to this. But don't get me wrong, I love the way it is now, but just making a suggestion. Hehe!
