The send Off

Desiree,

My heart is filled with so many different emotions lately. First of all, I am so proud of you...of who you are, and of all that you have accomplished. Like a dream, I watched your life unfold. Days turned to months, and months turned to years, and before I knew it, you were all grown up.

It hardly seems possible that so much time has passed. I have to admit that there is a sadness inside of me at the thought of letting you go, but I am also very excited for you! because I know that so many wonderful things lie ahead of you.

In this phase of your life, you are going to experience a new type of freedom. Your mind is going to be awakened and challenged like never before. Keep to the path, focus and work hard for your future and by all means have fun! The relationships that you form in college may be some of the most lasting and fulfilling relationships of a lifetime!

Still, some parts of college life may be difficult for you in the beginning. There may be days when you feel lonely or overwhelmed and this is very normal. On those days I want you to take this out and read it. I want you to remember that your family loves you, and that we think of you all the time. I want you to be reminded that you can always call us, email us, or write us and we will be here for you.

Above all else, I want you to believe in yourself, just as we believe in you. With these words, and with all of the love that is within me, I think I am ready now ..to send you off on your journey.

I Love you,
Mom
