The Sudden Sight of You

by Animus   Jan 10, 2007

Last night while driving home,
You and I happened to be waiting at the same traffic light.
As I glanced over, as most people often do when another car pulls up next to them.
My heart stood still at the sight of you suddenly being there.
I gasped and my heart took off at 100 miles per hour, running every red light in sight.
I honked to get your attention, while waving vigorously.
I grinned like an idiot and was rewarded by your surprised and wonderful smile.
We spoke a few words then waved as we parted.
Miles down the road and almost home, my heart was still racing.
It was then that I realized what this meant.
I am completely and hopelessly lost for you.
My battle to forget you has failed miserably.
The sudden sight of you took my breathe away, and it will continue to do so until the day when I never see you again, which I hope never comes.
I have grown quite fond of the sudden fluttering of my heart at the merest sight of you.
And if the sudden appearance of you causes me to lose my way and that is the closest we'll ever be then I don't want to be found.
Do not come looking for me unless you are willing to give me your heart as I have given you mine.

"Do not come looking for me unless you are willing to give me your heart as I have given you mine."

A very poignant ending that sums up the battles of love perfectly.
A lot of people can really relate to the feelings you've described in this piece
