Dreams

Adrenaline runs through me.
My heart beating fast,
Sweat falls from my face as it gets intense.
I smile.
This is what I wanted.
I mumble,
Faster.
It goes faster.
Soon we come to a stop.
It says go.
Faster.
This is a race.
I race,
For my life.
I shift.
Almost there.
So close.
Time slows,
Almost stopping.
A picture is taken,
As I cross the yellow line.
People cheer.
I had done it.
In a race for my life,
had won.
Against all odds,
I won. I step out of the car,
And people begin to laugh.
What are they laughing at?
I look down,
And realize.
I have no clothes on.
Boys whistle.
Girls look at me with disgust.
What is this?
Why am I like this?
Everything visible to the world.
My whole being.
I cry and lock myself away.
Deep in a dark cellar.
I stay.
I will not move,
I will not talk.
I will not eat.
A guy comes down.
He takes my hand gently.
Saying quiet soft words.
He helps me stand.
I am back on my feet.
He helps me move,
I am walking towards the door.
But I hesitate.
I stop dead in my tracks.
No,
I can not go out there.
The man comes near me,
It is too dark to see him.
But that voice rings a bell.
Who is it?
Who am I talking to?
I feel soft lips touch mine,
And all too soon,
They leave.
I realize the man had just kissed me.
He kissed me and I do not know him.
Wait,
I do.
He is my love.
The only face in the crowd,
That did not laugh.
He did not laugh at me,
He only had sympathy in his eyes.
Pain on his face.
He leads me out.
He takes me home.
I start a new life.
A life with him.
It was a race.
Not a race for my life.
A race for my love.
But as I sit up in my bed,
Sweating,
Panting,
Wondering what had happened,
I realize that it was not a race.
It was a dream.
But the kiss felt to real.
To real to be a dream.
I look over,
At a chair,
And there he is,
The man who had kissed me in my dream.
It was not a dream,
But reality.
But what if this reality,
Was a dream?
