Straying souls

by Jade Shadow Rose   Jan 22, 2007

Shimmering tears of happiness,
Flowing from her eyes.
Standing there, in front of her,
Her lover saying surprise.

How soon the meaning of those tears,
Changes from happy to sad.
He says she was his life.
The only love he's ever had.

He had pulled his arms,
From behind his back.
Displaying the knives,
He had used to hack.

He falls to his knees,
She stands paralyzed with fear.
He simply smiles, and opens his mouth,
His bloody tongue falls near.

Her muffled scream echoed though his mind,
Confirming that she cared.
If only he knew that before the blood,
Had left his heart in despair.

Smiling, he passes out quickly,
The blood that welled inside his mouth slowly oozing out.
But in his eyes, a fire danced,
Before she stabbed them out.

Embroiled in rage and disbelief,
She stabbed his heart and lungs,
Tore open his limbs and spilled the blood,
On top of him she flung.

She cried his name and with a thrust,
Shunned her pain away.
The knife pierced through her soul,
So HIS wouldn't stray.
