Redemption

Feeling lost in a world all my own,
Wondering who I can turn to.
So used to being confined within myself.
I almost missed the one who could help.
Terrified at first, I reached out,
Not really expecting any reciprocation.
I was startled to realize you were still there,
Promising you will never leave me,
Or allow those terrible things to happen again.
Even now, years later, you're still here.
You never broke your promise to me.
Things aren't always as good as they can be,
But you have never and could never let me down,
Because you are the one who saved me from myself.
