My Kingdom for a Pair of Scissors

by Jamie Bond   Jan 30, 2007

A lady yelled out her window at me:
"what do you think you're doing!?"
It took me awhile to recognize her.

she had blonde hair and we were familiar.
I kept walking, made it around the corner
In the doorway of the next house
the same lady yelled:
"keep moving...keep moving!"
I looked behind me and the many years had gone by.
"I want to find it! What I'm looking for!"
I screamed
She scowled back
and I noticed it never left her face and wondered
if it been frozen like that?
I thought I had gotten far enough away
when I came across that something that might be
what I'm looking for.

Five years in the making,
there is
a string attached
and the lady who follows me
reeling it away,
scowling all the time
while I wish right now
for a pair of scissors
and passage
for two.
