Life is to short

by natalie   Jan 31, 2007

His eyes like dark dancing trees
And a smile that could melt ice
He was so charming
It was going good for a while
Then.
The drinking started
It was OK at the beginning just a few at the weekend
Weeks past
It got worse
He got worse
Drinking daily now
Getting high daily
Lying daily
Throwing his life away daily
Everything going a bit hazy now
We hardly seen each other
Always making excuses
Spending night in a cell
Spending weeks in mental hospitals
Id had enough now
He said hed change
I believed him
Again and again
He said he loved me
And I believed him
I wish I knew then what I know now
Id really had enough now
We dididnt speak to each other for about 1year
Then.
I got a letter from him
Post stamp from prison
I thought I was over him
Obviously I wasnwasnt_He was saying he would change
And I believed him once again
I met him when he got released
He said he loved me
And that I am the one for him
As he got the words out of his mouth
Two police cars turned up
Now he is back in prison
Wasting his life away
Well this time
Im not wasting mine on him
Life is too short.
