Bent and Broken

by The DaveJon   Feb 4, 2007

They came out of the woodwork
Eating away, killing the life
Smothering the flame that burned inside
The pain
The fury
The hurt
The betrayal from within
The tears
The memories
That all come back

The words that were said
Embraces that were shared
Kisses that were recieved
The love that flowed between us
Dried up and faded away
Those three words that we held so dear
Now just empty shells
That fire into the soul
The life is gone
The stench remains

We fought for each other
Only to drift away
Our love blooming in secret
Only to be chilled by the first frost
And to see the leaves wither
Turned black from the cold
The fragile flower crushed

After all that remains
After all the distance that separates us
I can still say
Those little words
That cause pain to us both
For these words
Though bent and broken
Still ring true when put together

I
Love
You
