Don't change

by Imaginarygirl.   Feb 4, 2007

To the song 'Don't change' by AFI.
Listen to it if you have it.

Note: This is a story not a poem.

I don't usually like white chocolate
But when I eat it here with you for some reason it tastes like heaven.

Its raining outside,
So I grab your hand,
I've always wanted to kiss in the rain.
But as we stand there looking up,
I realize I don't want to ruin this beauty
With the beauty of your kiss.
We stand, holding hands, on the wet grass,
Looking up
And as rain hits our faces
I know that this will be a moment I will always remember.

I'm standing here on the ground
The sky above won't fall down

A moment passes and is gone forever,
I grab your hand and we make our way inside, laughing,
Because we know the sky won't fall down on us.
We are safe.
We are together
And you will always have me.

A moment passes and is gone forever,
So don't look back.

'See no evil in all direction
Resolution of happiness
Things have been dark
For too long.'

I just want to say that I love you.
Even with your scars
And your abusive past.
I was lucky,
You were not.
It's the luck of the draw.
My life could have been yours
But I don't care about the scars.
It wasn't your fault.

'Don't change for you
Don't change a thing for me.'

You were young
I know it's not an excuse
But it wasn't your fault.

You did nothing
You may say that by always doing nothing you do something
And that something was nothing.
So it is your fault.
But I know the truth.
You were young and afraid,
Unable to defend yourself.

You did nothing wrong.
A child should be loved,
But not that way.

It wasn't your responsibility to raise and care for yourself
So it's your parents fault.

Both your parents fault.

Not your own.

So many things I want to say.
I don't have the words to express.
I love you for who you are not who you had the potential to be,
I love you.
You may ask if I would love you more without your emotional scars
But I say that I didn't know who you were before your scars.
I love you now and that's all that matters.
I don't know who you would be if you hadn't had your past,
But I know you wouldn't be the same
And I love this you.
******************

As we run through the house,
Our clothes soaking wet,
We dash to the laundry
We take off our soggy clothes,
We both grab towels.

Laughing and drenched we race to the bathroom.
I love you and I don't want you to change.

We had a bath together that rainy day.
Then laughing you followed me to the unmade bed.
We put the under sheet on the bed.
You hide under the white sheets
and I was glad becuase this s the only white sheet I ever want to see you under.
And I forgot to tuck-in the sheets.
The lights were on and even if it was wet and cold outside.
It had been summer inside.

With me you had finally understood what love really was.
You found the emotions you had once lost.

'I found a love I had lost
It has been gone for too long
Hear no evil in all directions
Execution of bitterness
Message received loud and clear'

and now there is nothing but happiness in our lives.
Sometimes we look back at your sad past.
And you feel sad and bitter.
Yet I know.
I am here with you,
I am here for comfort and support.
We will get through this together.
So don\'t change.
You are who you are.
You donâ??t have to worry.
You donâ??t disgust me.
There is no reason for you to change for me.
No reason to hide your true emotions.
I will support you through all of this.

We will live on together.
