Storm

by Miss Mystique   Feb 4, 2007

You take my hand and we watch the storm.
The blinding lightning, the screams of thunder
Shield my eyes from the exquisite disaster,
As you watch the zenith of hate and love
They meet at the height of passion
For there is no line between them.
And I’ll watch through your soul
For I am half of a whole.
Or so, I used to think.
Through the span of your tight fingers I see what you want to hide
For there is no lie in the startling white of the light
There is no lie in the answering roar of the heavens
Clemency long abandoned, hiding behind the golden orb
I see through your deceptions and deceits
As diaphanous as the glass before me.
I cringe as the wind throws itself against the pellucid window
Transfixed I watch a tear run down
Twisting and anfractuous in its simplicity
Loosing her individuality as she becomes one out of my sight.
I’ll drop a tear in the ocean,
Find it for me and you will be worthy to call me yours
Another bitter illumination strikes my heart and eyes,
Your shielding hands long forgotten
Your heartbeat stills against my ears as we wait for the crescendo .
The silence is the worst
The ethereal stillness, when even the wind catches its breath.
That eerie moment of serenity filled with the all secrets of the universe
Yet nothing will ever be said.
Time beats again and the thunder seeks and claims its retribution
Not to be outdone by a flickering belle.
Zeus himself roars his mightiness, allied with the complete aural detonation
Fading away with the full-bodied reverberation
My heart speeds up as if to race away with the wild abandon before her.
She demands for this kaleidoscope of storm and your obsession to cease.
I drop your hand and answer your questioning look with my own,
Darkened with acrimony.
That fleeting lightning flashes again and I feel it bathe my face in white.
I turn to leave and I know you say nothing to halt me,
Nothing to ensnare me back into your web.
A single salty pearl tracks my cheeks
I’ll shed one tear for you.
It ends at my heart and when that thunder vociferates one last time
My heart will lock it away and throw the key into the ocean.
My lover,
My liar.
You will never find that key.
