The End Of The World

by Melissa Curtis   Feb 6, 2007

The world ended last night
So we went to the roof of the building
to watch it all unfold
Underneath a fire lit sky
We unfolded a blanket
And set out our food.
As demons devoured children
We devoured our chicken salad
As the seas build and Cities burned
We sipped our lemon tea
and fed each other finger food
Though we couldn’t hear a word
Over the screams of bloody murder
We held hands and kissed softly
As we took it all in.
Nero would have been proud of us
and our picnic in the sky
But as my world burned and rot
Not a tear shall fill my eye.
