I can't even concentrate now
with you across the room.
I'm not listening to the teacher
about Rome and wars and past.

Just one year ago, I recall,
I barely knew your name,
but I thought nothing of you at all.
I disregarded your life.

Now, for some reason beyond me,
my mind races to you
when I'm trying to do well (for once)
on a history exam.

Sometimes, I catch you staring back,
but it's not on purpose...
Looks like you're going to say something,
but it's not on purpose, right?

The bell rings to let us all out,
you leave before I can
even get all my stuff together
and follow you out the door.

And I won't see you till Monday
Weekend will seem longer
than any of the ones before it
'cause days can't go fast enough.
