What I See

I've looked far across the ocean
And deeply in the sea
But all that was looking right back
Was the reflection of me

I've glanced softly at the clouds
Lying on the grass
But all that I saw glancing back
Was a shape that resembled my past

I've stared into the fire
Heating up my face
But all that was staring back at me
Was an image of a horrible place

I glimpsed silently into a star
Making a wish as I always do
But what glimpsed right back
Was an image of you
