Tonight

by Raelyn   Mar 30, 2007

Standing outside as the wind whistles lightly through the tall trees.
i pull i sweater tighter around my shoulders.
i look at this dark night and let my imagination take wing as i look into the glimmering sky.

i watch as the stars play tonight.
they laugh and flicker and dance all around.
they reach down and pull me into their light, they crown me with jewels of the sky, they call me their queen and set me on a thrown of clouds.

the night goes on with great celebration.
a feast, some dancing, and then goodnight.
for the sun rises in moments.

so they guide me back down, happily to earth. they watch as i smile and wave at them, thanking them for a wonderful adventure.

i open my eyes with my sweater still tight around my shoulders. i glance back up into the night sky. the sun just around the corner. i smile and think of what i had just imagined.

i walk inside and lay my head down, i began to think about how real my time with the stars was.

i reach up and feel something on my head. it is the crown they gave me. i look at it in awe.

maybe, every once and awhile the things you imagine become real.
