Future

by Matt   Apr 6, 2007

On days like this, when I stop and think
I can see us in the future
Just a few years down the road
I can see us looking back
On all the memories we haven't had yet
Times where I held you in my arms
Just so you wouldn't see me laugh
At the silly mistakes you make
And times where you cried yourself to sleep
While I lay awake on the pull-out couch
Across the country on some business trip
I can see those times when I just sat there
While you covered your dirty mouth
And turned bright red in frustration
I'll never forget, just how cute you looked
I can see us together, disagreeing in the store
On while color to paint the addition to the house
Because there's a little one on the way
I'll hold onto the samples and look so lovingly
As your purse your lips and squint your eyes
And I can see myself holding your sweet hand
Waiting for the good Lord to call you up
Watching myself kiss your lips one last time
And remember the song from years back
My last kiss, on the Lips of an Angel...
