New Years In A Palace

by Lonesomeme   Apr 14, 2007

Light beams from the window shade
Blankets cover the incandescent light.
Roll over to avoid the morning calls
Only to see your face next to me

Sudden smile gleams from my face
Realizing what has happened
I lean over and gently kiss your forehead
You smile in your sleep

Head pounding like a bass drum
The light forces me to hide once again
Your skin against mine I begin to dream
Once again I feel like I am at peace

All too soon it is ripped from me
The silence between us
My heart slows down
Knowing that you regret

My heart shatters
Duct tape holds it together
Once again you chose
To love another

No one shall ever meet
The standards you have set
I can only hope
One day you will want what I have
