The Way We Were

The way we were was cute
At prom with a pretty dress and a handsome suit

The way we were made me smile
Everything we did felt quite worthwhile

The way we were could not have been better
Playing in the rain getting wetter and wetter

The way we were was too good to be true
The time we spent togeather just flew

The way we were changed somehow
It breaks my heart to see us now

The way we were will never be again
As we both knew it was the end

I would have done anything for her
But thats just the way we were
