The Day (Part II)

by Beautifully Disfigured   May 1, 2007

She cries again upon her bed
curses silently
wishes she were dead
she wraps herself in the blanket

The blanket was the first thing he gave her
she doesn't know how she will survive
but with the gift she cherishes so
she tries and tries to stay whole

Then one day he returns
and wraps her in a sweet embrace
he kisses her lips
and a smile spreads across her face

"I'm sorry, baby.
It had to be done.
But no more crying,
because I'm no longer gone."

She smiles again
"I know, baby.
I understand.
For you, I did stay strong."
