The Day (Part IV)

by Beautifully Disfigured   May 2, 2007

A few months have passed
the weddings being planned
but they no longer have to wait
for she's eighteen now

They're sitting by the pool
waiting for everyone to arrive
brother's in the kitchen
fixing up the cake

Mother's sitting down
they're bickering again
going on about the past
and her daughter's love for him

The guests are arriving now
rope lights hang above them
candles light the tables
a red dress fits snuggly around her waist

Then he stand up
and say, "I have a gift.
The wedding date is set.
It will be your most memorable day yet."
