Words for my Love (Poems to JoDee 1)

by Meghan   May 3, 2007

Upon what pedestal shall I put thy name
And by what color should one call your eyes?
What words will always keep you the same
Under the hallowed light of sun in the sky?
What timbre is thy voice O so sweet and true?
O were only a songbird's singing as sweet!
What words will forever preserve you?
Words can make the image of thou more concrete.
Allow me words to take you for away.
Let me sweep thine feet out from beneath thee!
Upon thine lips do I long my words to play.
With this paper I give thee part of me.
May you ever cherish this poetry
As I cherish you as the gods' gift to me.

(A/N: If you didn't notice, this is an English sonnet. I like the challenge that the strict structure presents.)
