Oh what a love

by Mr O   May 5, 2007

Oh what a love we knew
When our hearts were young
Not a single verse
Was ever left unsung
Between you and I

Now as I look back
With older eyes
Sadness embraces
As I realize
Why we said goodbye

No fault yours to bear
So hard you tried
As I built a wall
From the tears that you cried
Without a second thought

Oh what a lesson learned
Of deep regret
Ive been schooled so well
I can never forget
What I have been taught

Though its painful to know
The blame lies with me
For foolish reasons
I set you free
Now I pay the price

I watched you walk away
And now your gone
Your love for me died
But your memory lives on
Perhaps I should have thought twice

If second chances
Where but mine to buy
I would purchase
Every tear that I saw you cry
And we would never part

But those days are gone
Our time has past
Yet I shall think of you
When shadows of your memory cast
Upon this lonely heart
