A Rose in the River

I'm just a rose in the river

I float along

All day I drift

Days feel so long

I was once important

but now I am cast away

I swim like a dried leaf

I wish I couldn't stray

I'm just a rose in the river

Praying for a dying need

For someone to come and help me

And perform a good deed

It's cold, this river

I wish it were warm

Always I am scared

Of the oncoming storm

I'm just a rose in the river

It feels like years

But at night, all alone

No one can see my tears
