Fault

Little lights
flash in my head
The mood is murder
and pain and dread
Love is golden
until it rusts
like metal ghosts
as it makes a fuss
splinters slit
over empty hands
that will never touch
that will never understand
solid and unsteady
her eyes watch the door
she hopes he'll return
like he has before
but, tonight, the silence was colder
with a shiver of regret
and the words they threw,
they won't soon forget
like bullets hammering through skulls,
she shot him down so hard
and the heart she hurt him with,
he will likely discard.
