Mist

~MIST~

Mist engulfs me, quickly rising to my neck,
I open my mouth to scream, but only silence leaves,
My eyes widen in terror, shadowing with horror,
As blood trickles down my arm, and drips from my fingertips,
As the stench of death enters my nose, and the sense of dread fills my body,
And I go limp.
I fall, my head slamming into the ground, cracking open my skull in an instant,
And blood comes oozing out, trickling onto the sidewalk as I lay there, mist dancing at my body.
I raise my barely open eyes, and they land upon a face,
Floating there with a grim smile.
I open my mouth, and manage to speak through the crimson blood that oozed out,
"Why?" It was a hoarse, sad whisper.
Mostly gurgled through the blood, the stench making me want to vomit.
The face smiled again, the willowy soft ghost humming a soft, malice reply,
"Because, my dear." She hummed so beautifully.
"Death is a prize, for loving life so. Why not take it away, from those who don't deserve its glory?"
And thats when I knew, as my soul began to leave my body.
Thats when I knew why this spirit had killed me so as it did.
Because this sad soul hated life, and everyone in it,
It wished to make us all suffer as it did.
And as my soul began to lift up, and fly through the clouds, soaring toward heaven,
I watched the ghost snicker at my dead body sadly,
Smiling as I hummed softly to her,
"May God be with you, you poor soul. May God be with you."
