Alex my golden retriever

by Lanie Blackmon   May 16, 2007

Wrote this for a friend on her goldens 10th birthday

10 years have come and gone
that my Alex now 10 years old.
It was back in 1995 she said,
"There are 2 female left" I was told.

As I saw this little 2 pound puppy
my thoughts in my head start to whirl.
"I'll take her" I said & while we drove home
I nicknamed her my "Tiny Girl".

Sometimes the love I feel for Alex
just takes my breath away.
Because you see my Alexandra,
has made me the better person I am today.

She is my side kick, my best friend
the keeper of my heart.
And when we're together they are the best,
and I miss her when we're apart.

Mommy wishes you a Happy Birthday
my "tiny girl" has now grown up.
But today when I still look her,
I still see that 2 pound pup.

I love you my Alexandra
much love on your special day.
So Happy, Happy Birthday my friend,
forever in my heart you will stay.
