What Love Means To Me

My boyfriend once asked me,
what love meant to me.
I didn't know how to answer,
so I said, "You and Me."

He smiled and said
I love you too then,
I smiled even though
what I said wasn't true.

The truth really was,
I didn't know what love meant.
I did find the truth though,
the day our love came to an end.

Love is giving that someone
the chance to break your heart,
but trusting them enough
to know they won't tear it apart.
