The Carnival

by Deanna   May 29, 2007

Look at those two at the carnival
The lights of a thousand rides light up the night
While lighting up their faces with excitement
Roller Coasters, Ferris wheel, and fun houses
He takes the girls hand, and he smiles
She looks up, quite frightened, but keeps holding on
He walks her to the bumper cars; after all that's her favorite ride
They stand in the waiting line
The time has now come
They race each other to the bumper cars
Each with a yellow and green matching cart
They start up their carts and bump into each other non-stop
They laugh, and giggle, while crashing into the walls
And they have the most fun they have ever had in one night
The ride stops, and they get off
He takes the girls hand again
She smiles at him this time, with a shy and timid look
She keeps holding on
He walks her over to a game
They shoot the targets with the water
" Ding, Ding, Ding! "
He wins the race, along with the over-sized stuffed bunny at top
He gives it to the girl, as a gift
The carnival is closing soon
He takes the girls hand, and walks her to a white platform
Slow music starts to play, and they begin to dance
He twirls her around, and her skirt follows her movements
He brings her back in for the last time
They are close together now
They're holding each others hands so softly
The moon shines down on them like a spot light
They move in for a kiss
They smack their heads together
The carnival closes down
" I had a fun time with you at the carnival "
He said softly as he let her walk away into the night
