My Role Model- Nowitzki

by Dictionary   Apr 19, 2004

I see you soar by,
My hair blows from the speed.
Whoosh!
The net sways back and forth.
The audience cheers,
As the other team boos.
Your name is announced:
"Three pointer for Dirk!"
You drift back to the other end
As the crowd roars De-Fense!
Here comes your man,
He moves quickly,
But not quick enough!
Another steal, pass off,
Clunk! Clunk!
The buzzer sounds.
Everyone is silent,
The balls rolls around the hoop.
Swish! "Blonde Bomber did it! He won the Championship! The Mavs rule NBA world!"
I run up to you after the game.
"Sir, may I have your autograph? You're my role model!"
He smiles back and takes me onto the court,
Reaches for the microphone,
And calms everyone down.
"Ladies and gentlemen. Today we have a special guest. She is the Mavericks number one fan and deserves a round of applause for her support. Nobody thought that we would make it past the first round, but she believed, and I believe that it was her whom led us through!"
The crowd cheers,
I can't believe my eyes and ears!
My dream has come true.
I'm standing there with the one who led me through,
My role model.

*This is for my role model Dirk Nowitzki! If anyone knows how to contact him please do and send him my poem! I would love for someone to see the idolism that my sister and I have for him and the rest of the team.
