The Dream I Had

I had a dream last night
One that seemed of great significance
Your eyes, your smile, your face
All of which were the beauty around me
I held you close, hoping you would allow me a kiss
You stood motionless, almost weightless in my arms
As I leaned in, your girlish grin made me want you more
I remember the feeling I felt was unlike any other
I felt safe, protected in your presence
It was almost as if our heart beat in one rhythm, one soul
Your kiss, if I had not been holding on to you
Would have taken me clean off my feet
I had finally realized Love
The wonderful woman I wondered about marrying as a boy
Was standing in my arms, loving me back
For the first time I was happy
For the first time
I had lived, and I had wanted to live
