True Love and Real Love

by Alexis   Jul 6, 2007

This isn't real a poem, but more of a thought.

We all think about True Love. Well, what is it really? I don't think it exists. I'm saying that people don't feel a very real, "true", connection to their partner, but thats what i call "real love".
To me, the term "True Love" implies both people are happy forever. Like in fairy tales. Happily ever after, of please! Everyone knows thats not how life really works. Sure, you can be happy, but life's not perfect all the time. Nobody has a fairy Godmother who can make everything better all the time. (Even though that would be nice)
"Real love" just sounds more...real. More realistic. Real love is loving someone, despite the hard times, knowing there will be tears and pain, but also knowing that these things can pass. Can. They can also lead to the end of the love. But thats what makes it real.
On that note, breakups and divorce. They both have ups and downs. I'm sure you're thinking, "How can something that hurts so much have anything good in it?" Well, think about it, if both people don't feel the same, you can both just be happy as Friends and get the chance to meet someone you really care for. But, sadly, this is hardly the case. Still, it doesn't mean that if the break-up goes the way most do that the world has to end.
Sure, you probably will walk away hurt. Thats just part of life. Everything happens for a reason. Thats what always helps me. When something in my love life goes wrong, i just say "Everything happens for a reason, so there must be someone better out there for me." That doesn't make the pain go away like magic, but it helps. So thats the small ray of hope at the end of the black break-up tunnel. It's always there, even if you have to search a while before you find it.
And just like i said, it means there is some better out there. One less road block on the highway of love.
Just like every road in love, there will be bumps and potholes left from old pains. But every road, no matter how broken (especially the love road), ends in a beautiful place.Just be patient, and never let anything stop you from getting back in your car and continuing down the road.
Don't give up on love, because it never gives up on you.
Ignore the bumps in your review mirror, and know you're not alone. Everyone had a broken road, but just keep the eyes of your heart on that final destination. It might be far, it might not be, but if you stop driving, and let yourself sit at the post-break-up yellow light, thinking it will tell you when to go (and it won't), you'll never get to that final destination. So don't ever give in and keep on going.
Everyone has a broken road, who's waiting at the end of yours?
