Friday Night Escapes

Friday Night Escapes

Crackers, cheese and wine.
Crackers, cherries, grapes.
Candle light and bathtub soaks,
Our Friday night escapes.

Cigarettes and movie time,
And stroking of the hair,
Lead to late night talking.
Lead to playing fair.

The candle burns itself away,
And thoughts are running free.
I learn so much about you when,
You learn so much of me.

The cherry mountain becomes a hill.
The crackers are all gone.
The wine is but a memory,
As night approaches dawn.

And when the grapes have withered,
And when the cheese is dry.
I take your hand and go to bed,
My how the time does fly.

We sleep in late the following day,
And wake to empty plates.
But in our eyes we see the truth,
And leave things to the Fates.

Crackers, cheese and wine.
Crackers, cherries, grapes.
Candle light and bathtub soaks,
Our Friday night escapes.
