Is This What We Want?

by Ly   Jul 21, 2007

***I am dedicating this poem to all the people out there who have their family members in the troops. The whole world altogether should rethink about the choices we've made and the choices later on we will make because of our hatred toward each other. Really...doesn't hatred lead to war and war lead to more hatred and more wars? I wish those people who are numb and cold can taste a bit of something that we all can feel which is pain and love, and maybe this world will finally be a better place. After all, isn't life about being a good human being? No one likes sadness. We all want to be happy so let's all be happy...or at least we will...someday.
----------------

Why are we doing this?
Is pride and greed worth all this pain?
Our foolishness is destroying the reason why we live.
Don't you hear the cries my brother?
Why are we hurting each other?

We all have gone blind
The seed of hatred we helped to grow
Is dimming the love of our world.
Please open your eyes
And seek for a better way to end those lies.

As I look up into the heaven
I can see the sadness of those
Who were told to fight and defend.
Even though their tears are shield by the thundering rain,
Their faces are all you need to see the killing pain.

Is this what we want?
Living each day in this fear-cursed grave?
Darkness is beginning to fall over us
Each step it takes leaves scar that may not heal
Are our hearts that cold that we cannot feel?
