FALLEN ANGEL

by Alicesjourney   Jul 24, 2007

He has fallen, without a doubt,
broken the wings that lifted him up so high.
He wasn't going to let himself cry a tear,
he thinks to himself, they won't take me away from here.
Feeling so lonely, feeling confused,
wanting desperately a friend to turn to.

He doesn't know why he has fallen,
he cannot remember how he has broken his wings.
All he knows is that he once did soar,
roamed the skies before falling to the floor.
A goddess, beauty like he has never seen,
a distant memory, more like a dream.
A picture slowly comes to mind,
memories of another time.

He can't make sense of what he sees,
for the pictures come and go so fast...
He slowly begins to walk, trying oh so hard,
he needs to know what made him fall.
He knows there's something missing,
he cannot help thinking he's only dreaming.
For there is no way this could be real,
a goddess so beautiful cannot exist.

But as he walks further along the path,
when he thought he couldn't figure things out,
he comes across a crying girl,
he kneels beside her and asks what's wrong.
She did not look at him, hid her face instead,
she softly spoke, the words that shocked him so:
'My angel lost his wings, he fell for a greater cause.'
