Your Eyes Remind Me

by Grace Hikaru Yu   Jul 31, 2007

Two blue pupils,
that make me drown into the ocean that is your eyes.
It was then I realized,
that you were there all along.

Never play me like a fool,
never led me on,
never took advantage of me,
you even sang me a sweet song.

This daft girl here,
with the brown puppy eyes,
the black pixie cut,
dreaming dreams and hoping hopes,

never knew you were there,
never knew you loved me,
never knew you cared,
never knew you knew me better than I know myself.

You scared me,
how does one know another better than himself?
But now I apologize,
because my own feelings terrified me.

Until that day you came into my room,
from the tree crawling through the window,
you pressed my hand,
letting me faint in the welcoming darkness.

When I came to,
you stood there,
the warmth evident in your eyes,
what could I do but cry?

Of course you panicked and backed away,
but my tears were for the fact that you loved me,
yet will you stay with me?
Despite all these flaws before you?

Now I will let you know,
that I always loved you.
