Happiness

by Christina Yap   Aug 1, 2007

Happiness doesn't come easy, nope, not at all.

It comes,

it goes,

and it comes again,
this time bringing hope with it.

Hope for you to believe that happiness just might stay this time.

But it doesn't,

not that it doesn't want to;

it's just that happiness has other things to do,
things that aren't really optional.

And so my happiness went away

I'm cringing in pain missing everything that happiness gave me

The kisses of love...

The embracement of forever...

The voice that soothed my bubbly soul.

I miss it all

Happiness left, I'm nothing without it

I constantly seek the water of attention to quench the thirst for happiness that's dwelling within my soul.

As soon as I'd find the water that begins to quench my thirst,
I tend to want to keep drinking it,

but

I realize this water has an expiration date.

I don't want water that can expire!
DO YOU?
Well I don't.

The water that happiness provided before it left had no expiration date.
And I want it back,

but I have to wait.

I have to wait months...

then years.

Is happiness worth it, you may ask.

YES,
it is,

for happiness doesn't come easy,
and once you have it,
you do NOT want to let it go.

For if you do,
you will find yourself constantly drinking water to quench that thirst,
that just won't go away,
because each one of those waters carries an expiration date,

and the one that didn't,
you thought it was phony and let it go.

I,
for one,

will not be that person.

I will wait

Wait for my happiness to return

I like your poem and the content in it. I would like your poems to be well structured and written in stanzas :)

The whole poem is full of emotions. The only thing I would suggest you is to strucuture it well. The explanations are of poetic and descriptive quality and it very appealing to read your wordings. 5/5 for the beautiful imagery and the nice word choice

    With best wishes
